Why not sell the marina?
The marina should be sold. It is poorly run and a huge expense on taxpayers. Seeing the other property that is for sale in the area would be the perfect time to sell.

Mr. Mayor your comments are very carefully crafted.

I would like to know how many years the marina turned a profit... I think it would be better run privately

I have to agree with the comments of our Director of Development Services. And "Anonymous", I don't know where you get your information from but it is obviously from a very poor source. Leamington Marina is rated number 1 on the Canadian side by boaters around the Great Lakes and was the recent host of the Great Lakes Cruising Club's annual rendezvous. The report on the income generated is coming to Council in the near future. You might want to have a read. The marina itself has historically returned large amounts of revenue to not only Leamington but to the Federal Government as well. When 9-11 occured and for the next few years, there was a downturn but not to any signifacnt level for anyone to make a claim that it is a huge expense to taxpayers. For the last 2 years it has rebounded nicely and I suspect during 2015 budget deliberations we will see some very positive financial results. The details will be available at your request.

The Leamington Marina is a jewel on our waterfront and one of the most professionally run facilities in the industry. While there is a municipal expense to owning and operating the facility, the tourism generated by the marina and related economic spinoff is a great benefit to our municipality. For good reason, Council has not expressed interest to date regarding selling the marina.
